In Finland there are many traffic information related services already existing, but as these don’t fulfill the C-Roads specifications they are not considered as C-ITS services. Actual C-ITS services are mainly in piloting phase European wide, and the city of Tampere has been pioneer in this field by piloting these services in Finland.

In the Tampere test site Signalized Intersection service was piloted utilizing both short and long range communication technology. The pilot was conducted in one of the busiest intersections of Tampere. In these pilots latency and the operability of the EU CCMS security credentials were considered. C-ITS messages were delivered with both communication technologies and overall the results were encouraging.
